FIJI Events

Victory (semi-formal)
Every fall semester we collaborate with a sorority on campus for our Victory party. Victory is a semi-formal event (coat optional) and usually occurs in the first month of the semester. The purpose of this event is to celebrate the arrival of our chapter’s new members.

L.A.G.N.A.F.
Also in the fall we throw one of the messiest parties at TCU. Not your typical foam party, L.A.G.N.A.F. involves tiny styrofoam pellets, several ponds for lounging, and occasionally even a healthy foam wrestling contest or two.

Yellow T-shirt
It started four years ago as a weekend house party with a theme and turned into the best one-night party at TCU. We buy about 500 yellow t-shirts with a simple, but funny black design for $5 each. We then distribute these t-shirts to those people we know on campus that we would like to attend this party. We usually end up with about 80 guys and 350-400 girls. Admission to the party requires each person wear the shirt for the current year. Without a doubt, Yellow T-shirt is one of the best nights all year.

Islander
Every spring semester FIJI chapters across the country celebrate FIJI Islander. Each chapter celebrates in its own unique way. Some chapters use the party to raise money for charity and others put it off until the summer and celebrate for weeks at a time. We enjoy Islander week by erecting a bamboo hut in front of our house, lounging all week at the hut during the day, and going to various mixers/house parties at night. Our week culminates with a trip to a lakeside resort, at which we party on the beach all day with our dates and have the actual dance later that evening. We return the next morning with cameras that need developing and memory sticks filled to capacity.

Black Diamond Ball (formal)
Next spring will be our first formal in six years. Primarily due to our hectic spring schedule in recent years we have been unable to carry out plans for our Black Diamond Ball, but this year we have made it a priority. Formals and semi-formals are perfect occasions to ask that girl out that you’ve been to shy to talk to because, if it gives her a chance to get dressed up, you know she’ll say yes.
